Kota Earnhardt
Assistant Lighting Designer
Kota is an associate lighting designer at Crossfade Design. From an early age, Kota showed exceptional ability in a multitude of technical fields. He pursued his interest in art and design throughout high school and integrated his abilities and studies into the performing arts community of Floyd Central High School.
While in the theatre department, Kota received many accolades and opportunities. He participated on the technical team performing at the International Thespian Festival, with the Main Stage production of Drowsy Chaperone. Other productions include: Les Miserable, Godspell, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Pride and Prejudice, and many more.
Kota attended The University of Louisville, pursuing a degree in Fine Art and Graphic Design. He then became the Technical Director for TheatreWorks of Southern Indiana. Kota lead the lighting design, sound design, and set construction for numerous productions including: Big River, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Man of No Importance, Titanic, and Secret Garden. As Technical Director of TheatreWorks, he managed a technical team of community youth in two summer shows hosted by TheatreWorks EDU and the city of New Albany, IN. The students were mentored by local professionals and ran the shows independently for the final performances.
In addition to TheatreWorks, Kota was employed full time at Five-Star Technology Solutions as a certified onsite technician for private schools in the area.
Kota has many hobbies in his spare time. He enjoys working on his Volkswagens, welding and fabrication, photography, and playing the piano.
